Free and Open to Public! Spirits will connect at the Mesa Arts Center's annual Dìa de los Muertos Festival - a community celebration complete with a community altar designed by Veronica Ochoa, live music and performances. For more info click here.

The Day of The Dead festival will also feature delicious food, a mercado featuring an assortment of Dìa de los Muertos merchandise, jewelry, arts & crafts, children's activities, and more. You will not want to miss seeing the special altar designed by Mesa Artist Virginia Aguero. Festival admission and parking are free.

Once again, I will be there all weekend doing Vitreous Glass Enamel Sugar Skull demonstrations. For $5.00 you can decorate your own sugar skull and I will fire it for you with a torch! Lots of fun!  

EASY RIDIN' AND HARD ROCKIN' AZ STYLE

EVENT: MESA ART CENTER EASY RIDIN' AND HARD ROCKIN' AZ STYLE EXHIBITION

Earlier I wrote a post about the GUITARS & HANDLEBARS SEASON KICK-OFF FESTIVAL & EXHIBITION for the opening, weekend but the exhibitions are still up in the Mesa Art Center Museum until December 2011, so make sure you go check them out!

I specifically wanted to make note of the 'EASY RIDIN' AND HARD ROCKIN' AZ STYLE' Exhibition.

A few of the artists exhibiting, that I know personally were asked to come to the museum and choose from a pile of Harley parts to include in a sculpture of their own style with their usual medium.
Some of the artists showing are: Jonathan Brown, Tedd McDonah, and Becky Chader McDonah.

Decorative Trees for Sale

These Decorative Trees are not just for Christmas!Use them year round as decorative topiaries. I can also make them  larger for Yard Art.
They are made of Copper with Wood bases, and have hand applied heat patinas. All Hand Made! $40 each
One has holes, so that if you choose, you can hang Holiday ornaments from it. Keep an eye out for my Vitreous Glass Enamel Ornaments too!

Entry level class. Designed for beginners, but advanced students may work independently.

Design, layout and carving and finishing the model will be covered.

Wax will be available for purchase during class.

Turn found objects into metal. Use tree branches and leaves, spices, bark, or plastics from doll parts to ball point pens, anything that will burn at 1250F.

Cast pieces can be utilized to create jewelry or sculpture.

May be cast in silver, bronze or gold.

Make sure our registrar has your email address for contact by instructor prior to the class.

WOODWORKING: BANDSAW BOX

Explore sculptural form while creating a functional container. Band saw boxes open up endless possibilities of design, finish, and function while providing valuable lessons in beginning woodworking. If you have worked with wood, this class will leave you feeling accomplished and ready for more. Learn the properties of wood and basic construction techniques such as band saw use, design layout, lamination, sanding, and finishing to complete a personalized hand crafted product. Beginning to Intermediate level

Explore how wood can be a part of your jewelry making practice.

Learn how to texture, pattern, and finish wood to create beautiful wooden components that will stand out among others. Experimenting is key! In the class we will make a series of items including but not limited to: a bracelet, two necklaces, a ring, and earrings. We will fabricate these pieces using metal, string for hardware and connecting elements. Classroom: Sculpture Studio

You’ll learn the fundamental cuts that will enable you to use spoon-carving tools efficiently and safely. You’ll then be guided through a few simple projects where you will be able to use those cuts and add to them as your skill grows. By the end of the course you will have learned: the easy way to equip yourself to continue spoon carving, how to sharpen and care for your own tools, and what kind of wood to use and where to buy it. You will also get the chance to see a range of different things you can make with the same wood and tools; pots and boxes, cord, tool handles and sheaths … and much more. Found: New Home for Cute Kitten

We found a new home for the Kitty we found. My Sister and Nephew have adopted him and named him Chuckie. He now has a great new home with a loving boy!
